The Zipp 454 NSW Tubeless Disc-brake is the ultimate road racing wheel. This wheel offers everything the performance cyclist demands. It is aerodynamically efficient and stable in all wind conditions. Additionally, the wider rim is designed for tubeless tires at lower pressure to reduce rolling resistance and vibration damping, so as to lose as little energy as possible on the road. To achieve the best combination of aerodynamics and rolling resistance, it is recommended to mount a 28 mm tire on this wheel. While 25 mm tires offer a small aerodynamic gain, the rolling resistance losses of a 28 mm tire outweigh the aerodynamic gain. Therefore, for best performance, it is advisable to use a 28 mm tire. The 454 NSW features Zipp's most advanced technologies. The undulating shape of the 58 mm deep Sawtooth™ rim with Hyperfoils™ is our most aerodynamic and stable wheel. The 454 NSW is equipped with Zipp's Total System Efficiency™ (TSE™), our approach to combating the key enemies of speed: wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance, and vibration losses. And gravity? The 454 NSW Tubeless Disc Brake is over a kilogram lighter (over 400 grams) than its predecessor! Zipp's use of hookless rims (with straight sides) in the 454 NSW is integral to the Making You Faster project. With hookless, the transition between tire and rim is smoother and more aerodynamic. Zipp's hookless rims have a more efficient resin distribution, meaning lighter and stronger wheels.
