Yeti

Yeti bicycle is an American brand founded in 1985, in California, by John Parker, a Hollywood worker with a passion for cycling. The company became famous worldwide for the production of the FRO mountain bike model characterized by the turquoise color. In 2001, two Yeti employees, Steve Hoogendoorn and Chris Conroy, bought the company. Conroy is currently the president and Hoogendoorn the vice president of Yeti Cycles. The company's headquarters is now located in Golden, Colorado. The company has produced many models that are perfect for use in mtb races such as the Lawwill DH-9 full suspension bike and has also patented the ZeroLoss Technology system for linear riding. The suspension system consists of two sliding pins. The wheel path follows the direction of impact, moving directly into the mountain bike suspension system, passing under the shock absorber instead of flexing the frame. More recently, Yeti has patented a new suspension design system called Switch Technology, a dual link system that uses an eccentric mechanism to change direction as the bike moves. In 2014 this technology has been further refined and Yeti bikes now feature Switch Infinity technology. The new patented design was developed together with Fox Racing Shox and features a "translation pin" that improves the rear axle path of the bike. This change in rear suspension design has been used on the Yeti dual suspension models, including SB5, SB4.5, SB6, SB5.5, SB100, SB130 and SB150.
