Sunrace is a brand founded in 1972 in Taiwan that manufactures bicycle products. The company initially only made entry-level products for North and South America, but the boom in MTB sales has led to rapid expansion worldwide. Today Sunrace is one of the most important companies within the cycle industry. Continuous expansion projects and investments allowed the company to purchase the prestigious British brand Sturmey Archer in 2000 to have a strong foothold in the European market. 
SunRace's "research and development" department is based in Napa (California) and designs and develops components both for the OEM market and ultralight components for the aftermarket, creating products for both entry level and for sectors such as racing and MTB.
