The brand-new SPECIALIZED COCKPIT ROVAL RAPIDE 31.8X420/120MM HANDLEBAR handlebar is more than just the fastest way to the finish line as it offers great aerodynamic advantages, limiting an additional four watts from the super-fast combination of Rapide handlebar with Tarmac stem. The handlebar is aerodynamic, light, stiff and was designed in collaboration with both the world's best athletes and the Retül Fit Specialized experts.
The complete removal of the components that formed the connection between stem and handlebar allowed the handlebar profile to be designed in a wing-like manner and provide both the maximum advantage in clean air at speeds encountered in long solo sprints. An improvement of 4 watts represents a 32 cm advantage on a 250 m final sprint. When races are won by throwing the bike, this is a winning difference.
By removing the components connecting the stem with the handlebar this cockpit is 50 g lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the combination of Rapide handlebar with Tarmac stem. The cockpit is made entirely of premium high-modulus carbon fibre, which offers all the stiffness needed for sprinters and has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system ever made by Specialized.
The 15 different stem and handlebar combinations, all at -6 degrees, allow you to find the right position in the saddle: the radius from the top to the drops has been sculpted for freedom of wrist movement whether out of the saddle or tucked in an aerodynamic position, while the curvature and flaring echo the Rapide handlebars.
