The HIGHTOWER combines Santa Cruz's greatest achievements in one bike. With its lower link-mounted shock design and updated, adjustable geometry, this "Engineering Best Of..." assembles some of the pleasures of design with those of travel.
The Hightower is a trail mtb that does everything right every time: it handles better than its long travel sister (Megatower) and is more at home on climbs and elevation gains than its cousin Tallboy, it excels when the trail covers "all the way points in between," and the descents are the result of killer climbs. The shock absorber mounted on the VPP suspension creates an almost linear leverage curve, which allows it to absorb bumps of all sizes and maintain the kind of progressiveness normally reserved for the DH V10!
The 145 mm rear travel, 150 mm front travel and 65° head tube make this bike perfect anywhere.
The bike is flip-chip-equipped: on the High setting, the bottom bracket height is a bit higher, allowing you to tackle difficult technical trails and/or mount larger clinchers when needed. On the Low setting, the shock is more progressive to offer more bottom-out resistance.
