With the advent of the new wheel sizes and the increase of frame and components specialisation, the frame choice is becoming more and more difficult. Many bikers have the dream to start assembling their own bike starting from the frame, chosing one by one all the components but this require a very high knowledge and awareness. The choice has to be made based on the rider's needs considering, first of all, how and where he would like to go riding and the rear suspension. Than he will have to choose the correct size and some basic specifications (angles more open or closed for ex.) which deeply affect on the riding characteristics of a MTB. A rider that is looking for good performances when going downhill will have to go for a frame with a more open steering angle, on the other hand a rider looking for better performances when climbing will have to go for a frame with a more closed steering angle. Last but not least the wheels size; smallest wheels more agile and much more handy, easier to use when going downhill; larger wheels easier to use when climbing with more traction and will better overcome the obstacles.
