From Wout van Aert winning the Green Jersey with the most stage wins in modern history, to Simon Yates recently taking the Pink Jersey, the iconic V-shaped handlebar and fork design of the S5 have become a recognizable symbol among professionals worldwide.
The new S5 builds on this legacy of speed and design, evolving into something even faster, more refined, and distinctive. With reduced weight, it becomes an even more powerful ally in the hands of the world’s fastest athletes.
The new S5 is over 6 Watts faster than the previous version and 124 grams lighter, while maintaining the same handling, reactivity, and stability appreciated by riders worldwide. The most significant improvements are in the front section, where aerodynamic performance has been greatly enhanced. The fork blades and head tube are now more pronounced, while the handlebar and stem have been redesigned into a single piece, preserving the V-stem concept but with an even more aerodynamic and faster solution.
Cervélo and Reserve developed the new Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheels together, designed and tested in the wind tunnel alongside the frame and optimized specifically for use with the new S5.
The new one-piece handlebar and stem play a key role in improving the S5's aerodynamic performance, but those gains are limited if the rider is not completely comfortable. AERODYNAMICS ABOVE ALL!
The new S5 is 6.3 Watts faster than the current version (based on wind tunnel testing at 30mph). These gains were made possible through major improvements mainly at the front of the bike, as well as the integrated design of the asymmetric seat tube and rear wheel. Cervélo has long been a leader in aerodynamics, and test data show the new S5 is at least 5 Watts faster than its closest competitors.
ONE-PIECE INTEGRATED HANDLEBAR
The new HB19 One-Piece handlebar follows the “Plus-Four” concept, where the upper grip is 4 cm narrower than the lower drops (e.g., 38 cm/42 cm). This helps riders maintain a more aerodynamic body position when riding on the hoods, while ensuring stability during descents and sprints in the drops. NOT JUST FAST, BUT LIGHTER TOO
Despite the increased aerodynamic surface, the new S5 is 124 grams lighter than the previous model. Although the enlarged fork and head tube naturally added weight, the carbon layup and hardware were optimized to reduce the total system weight.
NEW RESERVE 57|64 TA WHEELS
The Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheels were co-developed by Reserve and Cervélo and wind-tunnel tested along with the S5 frame. The asymmetric rear wheel aligns with the seat tube for smoother airflow and reduced drag. This new wheelset is 3 Watts faster than the previous 52|63 wheels while maintaining the same weight.
