CERVELO S5 FRAMESET

The S5 has one goal: to reach the finish line ahead of everyone else. Under the guidance of Wout van Aert, Marianne Vos, and Christophe LaPorte, the new model has already proven to be an unmatched tool. In the 2022 Tour de France, this bike helped Wout achieve the highest points tally in the modern era. With 480 points, Wout had around 194 points more than his closest rival—a tangible proof that Cervélo continues to provide aerodynamic advantages to its World Tour athletes.

The new S5 has reduced aerodynamic drag by 65 grams and increased frame surface area, all while lowering overall weight. The deeper frame sections maximize the shapes allowed by the UCI. The iconic V-stem has been further refined, and the new fork was designed to simplify the entire front end.

• V is for Velocity: In the pursuit of speed, everyone wants to try different positions to find the most aggressive setup. The iconic V-stem of the S5 not only inspires confident handling at high speeds, but is now also remarkably simple to dial in. All necessary spacers are included with the bike, and there's now only one bolt length, reducing complexity and making the system 53 g lighter.
• Frame Improvements: The new UCI rules on aerodynamic design gave us more room to deepen aero profiles and squeeze out 65 more grams of aerodynamic drag from what was already the fastest aero bike on the market. You’ll notice a deeper head tube, a deeper bottom bracket area, and more aggressive shaping on tube trailing edges. Since the new S5 is only compatible with electronic shifting, we’ve tidied up the dropout area and refined tube shapes across the bike.
• Turbulent Aerodynamics: Reserve and Cervélo joined forces to develop a completely new way of designing and testing wheels for optimal performance in turbulent airflow conditions. Wind tunnels typically measure performance in ideal “laminar” flow—conditions that aren't realistic in the real world. So we helped Reserve develop rim profiles that stall less dramatically at higher yaw angles; in terms of ride feel, that means more stability, better planted handling, and greater confidence. You go faster because you’re more comfortable riding faster. The Reserve 52/63 setup is 50 g faster in laminar conditions and 54 g faster in turbulent conditions compared to the previous Reserve 50/65 combo.
• Tire Clearance: Wider wheels and tires are aerodynamically faster and more comfortable. The S5 comes stock with 28 mm tires, but has clearance for measured 34 mm tires. The frame is optimized to integrate the wider Reserve 52/63 aero wheels. In addition to handling benefits, this setup saves over 5 watts compared to the previous Reserve wheelset.
• Handlebar Refinement: We’ve improved handlebar comfort and reshaped it to create a perfectly flat transition between the bar and stem. We now use a two-bolt interface that allows infinite tilt adjustment between 0 and 5 degrees.
• Keeping it Simple: Riders at all levels are moving away from longer offset seatposts, and the new S5 now comes with a 15 mm offset seatpost on most sizes (compared to 25 mm on the previous S5). The old seatposts remain compatible with the new frame, and we’ll continue to stock the 400 mm long, 25 mm offset post for those needing a more extreme fit.
