The R5 is a legendary bike. From the iconic R5CA, capable of breaking every limit, to Wout van Aert’s historic victory on Mont Ventoux, this bike has been an integral part of Cervélo’s history for over twenty years.

The new R5 is an incredibly lightweight road bike — under 6 kg in RED and Dura-Ace builds — yet stiff enough to compete at the highest levels of modern professional cycling, as proven by Pauline Ferrand-Prevot when she rode it to victory at this summer’s Tour de France Femmes.

Nowadays, building a lightweight bike is relatively easy. The real challenge is creating one that combines low weight with the stiffness needed to transfer every watt of power from the world’s best riders to the road.

Designed for the big mountain stages of the Tour de France and the steep, punishing climbs of the Vuelta a España, the R5 excels both uphill and downhill. A true climbing bike must accelerate responsively, climb efficiently, and deliver security and predictability on descents.

While the UCI imposes a 6.8 kg minimum weight for pro races, us “mere mortals” can fully enjoy having access to the lightest road bike on the market.

CERVELO R5 ULTEGRA MAIN FEATURES:

• Only 5.97 kg in size 56: The new R5 in size 56 weighs just 5.97 kg, 900 grams below the UCI’s minimum weight limit. The bare frame weighs 651 grams (size 56) and the fork 298 grams. Beyond the 100 g reduction in the frame and fork, we optimized every Cervélo proprietary component, achieving an overall 326 g savings.
• Race-ready geometry: Handling remains essentially unchanged, except for a slightly adjusted BB drop that now accommodates 29 mm tires. The fit has been updated to match the S5, ensuring riders like Team Visma | Lease a Bike can switch seamlessly between bikes. If the R5 is your only bike, you’ll benefit from a modern, high-performance riding position.
• One-piece handlebar: The new integrated One-Piece HB18 handlebar saves nearly 150 g and improves aerodynamics by 2 watts compared to the previous model. Developed with knowledge gained from the S5, it’s comfortable, stiff, fast, and UCI-compliant, even under the latest regulations.
• Ultralight Reserve 34 | 37 SL wheels: Specially designed for the R5, this new wheelset cuts another 60 g without compromising strength or stiffness. They maintain the same durability as before but with a lighter construction.
