A product born from a collaboration with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Mips, with whom we shared our CAD models and performed a finite element analysis (FEA) to study skull malleability in early childhood. This led us to use low-density foam in larger quantities to better protect the head, which is more fragile and growing, of young children.
DATA-DRIVEN INNOVATION. Thanks to collaboration with KTH and Mips, Mio 2 allowed us to increase the amount of low-density foam by 16.5%, with a helmet size increase of only 2.5%.
COMFORT. The Mio 2 may be equipped with the most innovative technology, but it’s useless if the helmet isn’t worn correctly. That’s why Mio 2 is available in sizes specific to children and features our SX adjustment system, to fit the head size and always ensure maximum comfort. With the Tri-Fix strap spacer, adjusting the helmet fit is really a breeze.

To your little cyclist, let your child experience the road to freedom on two wheels with the brand-new Shuffle 2 LED helmet. In light of the exclusive partnership with KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Mips, we shared the CAD designs of our helmets and studied the still-soft skulls of young children with finite element analysis (FEA). Because children's heads are softer and still growing, with this collaboration we established the need to use low-density foam, and a greater quantity.
DATA-BASED INNOVATION: As a result of our collaboration with KTH and Mips, for the Shuffle 2 LED helmet, adding 18% more low-density foam increased the helmet size only by 5% in overall dimensions.
COMFORT: The Shuffle 2 LED helmet has many technological features, which are only functional when worn correctly. Hence the measures are child-specific and we adopt the SX fit system that helps a proper and comfortable fit. The Tri-Fix device ensures easy strap adjustment.
LED LIGHT: At the rear of this Shuffle 2 helmet there is a LED light for greater visibility to motorists. The headlamp integrates perfectly into the design, so children wear it willingly, and parents are reassured that their son or daughter is always clearly visible.

In developing the Dissident II we collaborated with athletes Loïc Bruni and Finn Iles to design a helmet that meets the needs of downhill race circuits. With five EPS inserts we managed to tailor the foam density according to its position inside the helmet — allowing us to create a lightweight helmet while also managing the energy of potential impacts in the best possible way. The softer foam absorbs more energy in impacts. The Dissident II helmet also features the MIPS Evolve Solution system — which helps redirect rotational movements of impacts. For the Evolve Solution we used fabric to secure the internal pockets, eliminating potential noise.
Freshness isn’t just a mental matter; it’s hard to concentrate when it’s very hot, especially if your head feels like you’re in a sauna. We therefore aimed to improve the ventilation system to bring in more air, with strategic vents to vent hot air, keeping the rider’s head cool and comfortable in any situation.
Especially in the context of a race, it’s very important that the helmet is cool, light, and unobtrusive, because it reduces rider fatigue and improves reactivity. The construction with inserts allows lightness without compromising protection. We don’t know what Finn Iles was thinking during his winning run at Mont-Sainte-Anne, but we know he didn’t have to worry about the helmet. Here is the new Propero 4 helmet – the aerodynamics of the S-Works Evade 3 combined with the exceptional ventilation of the S-Works Prevail 3, and furthermore the comfort and reliability of all Specialized helmets, plus the 5-star rating from Virginia Tech Institute®. Every detail of the Propero 4 has been designed with the equation Aerodynamics + Ventilation + Lightweight = Speed in mind.
AERODYNAMICS: In developing the Propero 4, aerodynamics was the starting point, and for this we conducted numerous CFD tests and wind-tunnel sessions. With the profile inspired by the S-Works Evade 3, we gain already 4 watts, i.e., 15 seconds over a 40 km distance.
VENTILATION: Drawing from the S-Works Prevail 3 helmet, we achieved our quality objectives. We incorporated the rear exhausts of the S-Works Prevail 3 and introduced 2 mm micro-channels that create turbulence in the airflow through the helmet, thereby creating a continuous and refreshing air passage.

The SPECIALIZED S-WORKS EVADE 3 MIPS is an aerodynamic road helmet that channels air from the inside to the outside to keep the head cool at all times.Thanks to Computational Fluid Dynamics tests and testing conducted in the wind tunnel, a rear diffuser has been created to help minimize drag and improve ventilation. The diffuser helps optimize aerodynamic performance by allowing air to exit quickly, and it enhances ventilation by expelling 10% more air through the helmet at a given speed.The occipital adjustment system allows fit to be tailored to head shape, ensuring maximum comfort and also permitting modification of the helmet angle to be compatible with eyewear. The TriFix system with thinner straps reduces potential irritation while the Mindset seal system is ultra-light and allows easy helmet adjustment even while pedaling. The SPECIALIZED S-WORKS PREVAIL 3 MIPS is a road bike helmet with high comfort, thermoregulation, and ventilation features. It is the ultimate helmet for a variety of uses, excelling in hot conditions, steep climbs, and mountainous stages. The central foam “pegs,” which blocked air from the center and effectively created channels that increased ventilation surface by 24.5% compared to the S-Works Prevail II Vent, have been removed, and the helmet now features the widest ventilation zone ever produced by Specialized. In the event of an impact, the helmet’s job is to dissipate the generated energy, and more EPS foam means better energy management: aramid cables pass through the helmet and are anchored to the carbon fiber side panels. Upon impact, the AirCage* technology acts as a suspended bridge and is designed to distribute localized forces throughout the helmet. The occipital adjustment allows a personalized fit, and the helmet angle can also be managed for compatibility with eyewear. The TriFix system now has thinner straps to avoid potential irritation, while the Mindset retention system, with micro-adjust, is lightweight and offers even better grip for on-the-fly adjustment while riding. The S-Works TT 5 helmet is an excellent example of our Made In Racing approach. Remco Evenepoel and Kasper Asgreen of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl spent countless hours in our Win Tunnel until we achieved the fastest TT helmet we have ever built. Using CFD modeling, the helmet team redesigned the TT helmet by positioning the back of the helmet closer to the rider's shoulders, reducing the air vortex that creates resistance. The S-Works TT 5 helmet is equipped with a Class 1 optical shield for zero distortions when looking at the road, unlike traditional lenses which are typically formed with transparent plastic. The shield has a water-repellent coating to help eliminate moisture in case of bad weather on race day, as well as a high-quality anti-fog coating (EN166). The occipital base adjustment optimizes comfort by customizing the fit to the individual head shape, and the helmet angle can be adjusted to be compatible with glasses. An adjustable Tri-Fix web system provides riders with additional comfort with 10 mm thinner straps that reduce strap noise. Our ultralight and extremely comfortable MIPS Node Air technology is integrated directly into the helmet padding, with a low-friction smooth layer designed to dissipate rotational forces. With Specialized's proprietary development work, we added perforations to maximize breathability, performance, comfort, and weight savings.
