In 2019, Áspero took the world by storm by heralding a "new era of speed in gravel." The new Áspero stays true to those early, simpler days of true gravel riding, but with a few improvements: a threaded bottom bracket, cleaner cable routing, and a UDH-compatible derailleur hanger for those who want to use SRAM drivetrains. And, of course, it's more aerodynamic. In the case of Áspero, however, aerodynamic performance isn't so much about speed as it is about energy savings, achieved through reduced aerodynamic drag. After a hard day in a headwind, the three watts saved compared to the previous Áspero could be equivalent to one less energy gel for your stomach to digest—try it and believe it!
In addition to reducing drag, we've also lowered the seatstays for a little more rear end grip and slightly reduced front-end stiffness to make the final hours of those really long races less painful. Between the dropped seatstays, we've also added a little more mud clearance, capitalizing on what we learned from the R5-CX (and the 2023 Unbound Mudfest). These are a lot of seemingly small improvements, but they add up to so many others. The result is a bike that feels a lot like the original Áspero, but is actually faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.

Nel 2019, Cervélo Áspero ha conquistato il mondo del gravel, annunciando una "nuova era della velocità nel gravel". Divertente, ma senza compromessi. La nuova Áspero rimane fedele alla sua idea originale, ma con alcuni miglioramenti: un guscio BB filettato, un passaggio cavi più ordinato e un gancio del deragliatore compatibile con UDH per chi vuole utilizzare le trasmissioni Transmission di SRAM. E naturalmente è più aerodinamica. Nel caso di Áspero, le prestazioni aerodinamiche non riguardano tanto la velocità pura, grazie alla riduzione della resistenza aerodinamica, quanto la conservazione dell'energia. Dopo una giornata intensa con vento contrario, i tre watt risparmiati rispetto al precedente Aspero potrebbero equivalere a un gel energetico in meno che lo stomaco deve digerire: ne vale la pena.
Oltre alla riduzione della resistenza aerodinamica, Cervélo ha anche abbassato i foderi per dare un po' più di cedevolezza nella parte posteriore e ha ridotto leggermente la rigidità dell'avantreno per rendere meno dolorose le ultime ore di una gara lunga. Tra i foderi abbassati è stato aggiunto anche un po' più di spazio per il fango, facendo tesoro di quanto Cervélo ha imparato dalla R5-CX (e dall'Unbound mudfest del 2023). Sono tanti miglioramenti apparentemente piccoli, ma che si sommano a molti altri. Il risultato è una bicicletta che assomiglia molto all'Áspero originale, ma è più veloce, più comoda e più versatile.

The Caledonia-5 is the bike we keep looking for when we know the odometer is going well beyond the three-digit threshold. Long rides invariably have a bit of smooth asphalt, a bit of rough asphalt on back roads, a cut singletrack connector and maybe even your local Strade Bianche sector. So we built a bike that could handle all of this, do it well and mount fenders in case the threatening clouds turn into a downpour 130 km into your day.
FEATURES:
Updated frame: the slimmer tube profiles throughout allow for a more comfortable bike while reducing system weight at the same time. Tire clearance is 36 mm and the support has been reduced by 10 mm.
In Frame storage: same storage solution as seen on the P series
Performance Fit: the integrated stem of the Caledonia-5 and the two bearing options allow stack that ranges from an aggressive 7 mm to a relaxed 22 mm without the use of spacers. With a wider fit coordinate range (stack) from 580 mm to 687 mm, the Caledonia can be slammed or more upright. All while maintaining a seamless look and speed in the wind.
Removable FDM: our bolted front derailleur mount is made of high-strength aluminum alloy and attaches to the frame with two countersunk screws. This allows for easy replacement in case of damage, but also allows it to adapt to new standards as soon as they become available or to completely remove the front derailleur mount if you choose a 1x system.
Aerodynamic cable management: the frame, fork, handlebar and related Cervélo components are designed to hide brake and shifting cables (mechanical, electric and hydraulic) from the wind, thus improving aerodynamics without compromising usability or performance.

WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN
The R5 has only one task: to reach the top, fast. But for all the glory and fanfare that come with a summit finish, it is rarely the only climb of the day. And even if a race is usually not won on the descent, it can certainly be lost there. A climbing bike that is not able to tackle a hairpin bend is a bit like a tazza of decaffeinated coffee. This is the fourth iteration of the R5, and while the weight and stiffness have varied over the years, the handling, poise and unmatched descending ability have remained constant from day one.
FASTER IN EVERY DIRECTION
The new R5 frame is 130 g lighter than the previous model, a 16% reduction compared to an already light frame. Furthermore, even if aerodynamics was not a goal for this frame as it would be for an S5 or a P5, routing the cables internally has reduced aerodynamic drag by 25 g.

The R5 is a legendary bike. From the mythical R5CA, capable of breaking every limit, to Wout van Aert’s historic victory on Mont Ventoux, this bike has been an integral part of Cervélo’s history for over twenty years.
The new R5 is an incredibly lightweight road bike — under 6 kg in RED and Dura-Ace builds — yet stiff enough to compete at the highest level of modern professional cycling, as demonstrated by Pauline Ferrand-Prévot when she rode it to victory at this summer’s Tour de France Femmes.
Nowadays, building a lightweight bike is relatively easy. The real challenge is creating one that combines lightness with the stiffness required to transfer all the power of the sport’s top champions to the road.
Designed for the great mountain stages of the Tour de France and for the steep, demanding climbs of the Vuelta a España, the R5 excels both uphill and downhill. A bike built for climbing must accelerate instantly, climb efficiently, and also deliver confidence and predictability on descents.
Although the UCI imposes a minimum weight limit of 6.8 kg for Pro races, we “mere mortals” can benefit the most from having the lightest road bike on the market.
CERVELO R5 ULTEGRA BIKE – KEY FEATURES:
Only 5.97 kg in size 56: The new R5 in size 56 weighs just 5.97 kg, a full 900 grams below the UCI minimum weight limit. The frame alone weighs 651 grams (size 56) and the fork 298 grams. In addition to a 100 g reduction in frame and fork weight, attention was paid to every single component, resulting in a total weight saving of 326 g across all Cervélo proprietary components.
Race-ready geometry: In terms of handling and ride quality, the geometry of the new R5 remains virtually unchanged, aside from a slight adjustment to the BB drop that allows for tires up to 29 mm. The fit, however, has been updated to mirror that of the S5. This means that if you switch between models, as Team Visma | Lease a Bike does, you’ll always maintain the same position and riding feel. If the R5 is your only bike, you can count on a modern, performance-oriented riding position.
One-piece handlebar: The brand-new R5 one-piece integrated HB18 handlebar not only reduces the bike’s weight by nearly 150 grams, but also improves aerodynamics by 2 watts compared to the previous model. Drawing on knowledge gained from the S5 handlebar, we developed a bar that is comfortable, fast, and stiff—ideal for long days in the saddle and hard-fought finishes. All handlebar dimensions comply with UCI regulations, including the most recent rule updates.
Ultralight Reserve 34 | 37 SL wheels: Designed specifically for the R5, the new Reserve 34|37 SL wheelset allowed us to save an additional 60 grams. The new wheels deliver the same strength and stiffness as before, thanks to a revised structure that reduces weight without compromising performance.

Rouvida will make you go fast, well, much faster. Elegantly designed around the Fazua Ride60 motor, Rouvida delivers 60Nm of torque paired with a 432Wh battery, and assists you up to a speed of 25km/h to break away from the bunch on climbs or to drift at the limits of control off-road. That’s right, Rouvida is available in two configurations: road and gravel. We have designed ingenious interchangeable dropouts that significantly change the bike’s geometry, so that the road bike truly rides like a road bike and the gravel bike offers you all the qualities needed to tackle dirt tracks. No compromises then, just speed.
TWO IN ONE
We know there is strong interest in road e-bikes but also in eGravel, so we designed a set of dropouts that would allow a single frame to do double duty. These interchangeable front and rear dropouts, far from the typical “flip chip”, have the effect of changing the entire setup in order to obtain the fit and handling you expect from a road bike and from a gravel bike bearing the Cervélo badge. Warning: when changing the inserts (which must be purchased from the retailer), a firmware update is also required, which must be carried out by your local Cervélo dealer.

Even though the main goal of the entire design process was not exactly “let’s not make it look like an e-bike”, we admit that this aspect was certainly front and center throughout the whole process. Our bicycles are refined machines, with sophisticated design and high performance. The addition of a motor and a battery could not and should not change that. From reorienting the battery to repositioning the speed sensor, we made every effort to ensure that Rouvida meant Cervélo as much as an S5 or an Ãspero.

THE DETAILS MATTER
We carefully evaluated every tiny detail and the result is a bicycle that sits perfectly alongside all our aerodynamic models. Rotating the battery compared to standard applications allowed us to save a full 25 g in drag in the wind tunnel. The Road Control positioned on the handlebar curve gives you the ability to control the assistance power from a very natural position, while the LED Hub on the top tube includes a USB charging port useful for lights or accessories.

The World Cup season has started, and so have we. The ZHT-5 and ZFS-5, respectively hardtail and full-suspension, made their debut at the Nove Mesto World Cup round. The riders? World Cup veteran and former Dutch XCO champion Milan Vader, and current cyclocross world champion Fem van Empel.
HE'S BACK!Milan Vader is an XC racing veteran and former Dutch national champion. He was ready to debut on our Z mountain bikes back in 2022, but a life-changing crash at Itzulia in the Basque Country shifted his priorities to relearning how to walk and ride. He recovered phenomenally, much faster than doctors expected. This year, he will compete in the full XCO World Cup season.
DUTCH DUOFem van Empel is one of the newest additions to Team Jumbo-Visma. A true talent regardless of the bike she rides. After winning at the Cyclocross World Championships in Hoogerheide, she switched from knobby tubulars to slick road tires in the spring and now aims to improve her results in the Mountain Bike World Cup – and maybe even reach the podium.
