The S5 is now an undisputed benchmark in competitive sports when it comes to speed and aerodynamic efficiency. And the numerous results achieved on the most prestigious international stages bear witness to this. From Wout van Aert, who won the Green Jersey with the greatest number of victories in modern history, to Simon Yates, who recently claimed the pink jersey, the iconic V-shaped handlebar and the distinctive fork design of the S5 have become a hallmark among professionals around the world. The new S5 builds on this legacy of speed and design to evolve into something even faster, even more refined and distinctive, shaving weight to become an even more powerful ally in the hands of the fastest athletes in the world.
The new S5 is more than 6 watts faster than the current version, and 124 grams lighter while guaranteeing the same handling, responsiveness and stability that cyclists worldwide already appreciate in its predecessor. The most important changes concern the front end, from which the most significant aerodynamic performance improvements come. The fork blades and head tube have become more pronounced, while the handlebar and stem are now a single, redesigned piece, taking up the V-stem concept but with an even more aerodynamic and faster solution.
Cervélo and Reserve jointly developed the new Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheels, designed and engineered in the wind tunnel together with the bicycle frame and optimized specifically for use paired with the new S5.

The one-piece handlebar and stem of the new S5 contribute significantly to the improvement of the bicycle’s aerodynamic performance, but such improvements are limited if the rider is not fully comfortable with the bike. The new S5 is 6.3 watts faster than the current version (data obtained in the wind tunnel testing at a speed of 30 mph). These gains were made possible thanks to major improvements mainly in the front part of the bicycle, but also thanks to the incredible work of integrating the asymmetric profiles of the seat tube and rear wheel. Cervélo has long been an industry leader when it comes to aerodynamics and, with tests in hand, the new S5 is at least 5 watts faster than the bikes of our closest competitors.

INTEGRATED ONE-PIECE HANDLEBAR

The new HB19 One-Piece handlebar uses our “Plus-Four” concept, meaning the width of the tops is 4 cm narrower than the width of the drops (for example, 38 cm/42 cm). This approach helps riders maintain a more aerodynamic body position while the hands are on the tops and provides stability in the drops when tackling descents and sprints. All handlebar sizes comply with UCI regulations, even in light of the most recent rule changes. The best part? Despite the increase in aerodynamic surface area, the new S5 is 124 grams lighter than the previous model. Although the significant increase in the size of the fork and head tube led to an obvious weight increase, we optimized the carbon layup and the entire hardware to make the system even lighter.

NEW RESERVE 57|64 TA

The new Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero wheelset was jointly developed by Reserve and Cervélo, designed and optimized in the wind tunnel together with the frame of the new S5. The asymmetry of the rear wheel adapts to the seat tube, ensuring a smooth airflow that reduces overall drag. The new wheelset is 3 watts faster than the current 52|63 wheels while guaranteeing the same weight.
