The TARMAC S-WORKS SL8 FRAME is the base from which to start building the best bike in terms of speed, lightness and aerodynamics. Aerodynamics, lightness and speed allow you to win competitions. To achieve speed it is necessary to create a combination without compromise of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness and shock absorption.The Specialized Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest frame on any route: 16.6 seconds over 40 km of flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milano-Sanremo course, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.
TARMAC S-WORKS SL8 FRAME MAIN FEATURES:
The front section has been optimized to achieve maximum advantage. The steerer tube is positioned behind the front of the frame’s head tube to offer much lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to the new UCI rules, for the SL8 it was possible to install a narrower, more aerodynamic seatpost to ensure that the turbulent aria in the leg zone can flow more easily towards the rear of the bicycle.
685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any altra World Tour bicycle*. Maximum lightness possible in the down tube area, the seat tube and the rear of the bicycle. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stresses that it was possible to reduce the material thickness, eliminating the superfluous.
The stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7. The frame is manageable and precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal inputs. The zones that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, in sella the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable, filtering 6% more of the vibrations coming from the terrain and allowing you to attack corners with a feeling of agility and balance unica nel mondo of racing bikes. Same geometry as the SL7 with the same generous spazio for 32 mm tires, so you can use a higher-volume tire when needed.

Aerodynamics or lightness alone do not win races: what matters is speed. To achieve this speed, it is necessary to create a no-compromise combination of aerodynamics, light weight, stiffness and compliance. Thanks to complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest racing bike on any route: 16.6 seconds on 40 km of flat, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-Sanremo route, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it is most needed, and in the process we have created our fastest road bike ever – yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to achieve maximum advantage. The fork steerer is positioned behind the front of the frame’s head tube to offer much lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to the new UCI rules, for the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we have ever made, ensuring that the turbulent air around the leg area can flow more easily towards the rear of the bicycle.
LIGHT WEIGHT: To create the Tarmac SL8 and make the most aerodynamic bicycle while respecting the minimum weight requirements imposed by the UCI, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team produced a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bicycle*. By focusing on the lowest possible weight in the down tube, seat tube and rear triangle of the bicycle, we applied the lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to loads that it was possible to reduce material thickness, eliminating the superfluous. *Except for that time when Kasper Asgreen raced with our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.
RIDE QUALITY: The stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Tarmac SL8 is 33% better than that of the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it is precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, in the saddle the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable, filtering 6% more vibrations from the ground and allowing you to attack corners with a feeling of agility and balance that is unique in the world of racing bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous clearance for 32 mm tires, so you can use higher-volume tires when needed.
