The aerodynamics or the lightness alone do not win races: what matters is speed. To achieve this speed, a no-compromise combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness and shock absorption must be created. Thanks to complex simulations using real data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike on any course: - 16.6 seconds for 40 km of flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milano-Sanremo course, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

- AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where needed most, and in the process we have created our fastest road bike ever – yes, more aerodynamic even than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to gain maximum advantage. The fork steerer tube is positioned rearward relative to the head tube of the frame to offer much lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to the new UCI rules, for the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest, most aerodynamic seatpost we have ever made, to ensure that the turbulent air in the leg area can flow more easily toward the rear of the bicycle.
- LIGHTNESS: To create the Tarmac SL8 and make the bike as aerodynamic as possible while meeting UCI minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team has built a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. Focusing on maximum lightness in the down tube, seat tube and rear of the bike, we adopted lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stresses that material thickness could be reduced, removing the superfluous. *Except for that one time Kasper Asgreen rode our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.
- RIDE QUALITY: The stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Tarmac SL8 is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it is precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal inputs. While the areas that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, in the saddle the SL8 is more comfortable, filtering 6% more of the road shocks and allowing you to attack corners with a unique sense of agility and balance in the world of road bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous clearance for 32 mm tires, so you can use a higher-volume tire when needed.
