PAIR OF TRICKSTUFF MAXIMA BRAKES
With the MAXIMA we wanted to put fine to any discussion about the most powerful bicycle brake. It is the most powerful brake we have ever built and therefore the most powerful bicycle brake al mondo. Building a powerful brake was actually quite simple. Less trivial was building a brake that, despite its great power, had the usual exceptional modulation of all Trickstuff brakes. After all, power is worth nothing without control.
It seems to have worked. Our test riders Mick Hannah, Jakob Breitwieser, Nina Hoffmann and Gee & Rachel Atherton are enthusiastic. They have already won numerous World Cup Downhill medals with the MAXIMA.

- ERGONOMICS: Nothing disturbs and annoys on the finger rest as much as angles and edges. Ecco why we do not have even uno at the point of contact between brake and rider. The forma of the surface, created with special milling heads, ensures braking without pressure points even after kilometers of descents.
The finger rest is also free from annoying friction points such as holes, grooves or depressions. The brake lever must not tame the finger, but the finger must tame the lever. During the natural braking movement, the finger slides on the brake lever the closer it gets to the handlebar. This movement must be supported by a smooth surface and not hindered by static friction. This means that the mano does not have to rotate to compensate: the handlebar remains firmly in the grip. Try it. - HANDLEBAR CLAMP: The two-part milled handlebar clamp is significantly più stabile than the previous band clamp and generously compensates for handlebar tolerances. Naturally, it is prepared for use with our interfaces for shift levers or hydraulic seatpost levers.
- TOOL-FREE LEVER REACH ADJUSTMENT: Simple, efficient, appreciated by our riders: for quick brake adjustment for the next track.
- BRAKE LINE
The MAXIMA comes with Goodridge steel brake hoses. The stainless steel braid ensures the brake hose most resistant to pressure of all bicycle brakes. The result is a defined pressure point despite the enormous transmission ratio. - The flexible Goodridge steel brake hose has a diameter of 6 mm (compared to 5 mm of the altri brake hoses). Therefore, it does not pass through the openings for internal cable routing on all frames. If this is a problem for you, we will be happy to supply you with a “bare” steel hose. This has a diameter of 5 mm, since the steel mesh is not coated with plastic.
- The MAXIMA is also available with a Kevlar hose resistant to alte pressures (5 mm).
- DOT versus oil? No altra question occupies the minds of brake experts più than the issue of brake fluid. It is more a religious than a technical question.
The fact is that – and practice proves it – both work! Both work! For the MAXIMA we opted for oil, but not just any oil: our Bionol by DANICO is a vegetable oil with a very high boiling point: 300° C, i.e. higher than the boiling point of DOT 5.1. The result: even greater protection against boiling. The result: even greater protection against boiling of the brake fluid. - BRAKE PADS
For the MAXIMA we adopted the forma of the Hope V4 brake pads. This pad has a large surface area and contributes to the stability of the MAXIMA. Like all Trickstuff brakes, the MAXIMA is approved for the use of pads and rotors from third-party suppliers.
