Yeti Bike is an American brand founded in California in 1985 by John Parker, a Hollywood worker with a passion for cycling. The company became world-famous for producing the turquoise FRO mountain bike.
In 2001, two Yeti employees, Steve Hoogendoorn and Chris Conroy, purchased the company. Conroy is currently the president and Hoogendoorn is the vice president of Yeti Cycles. The company is now headquartered in Golden, Colorado.The company has produced numerous models perfect for use in mountain bike racing, such as the Lawwill DH-9 full suspension bike, and has also patented the ZeroLoss Technology system for a linear ride. The suspension system consists of two sliding pivots. The path of the wheel follows the direction of the impact, transferring directly into the mountain bike's suspension system, passing under the shock absorber rather than flexing the frame.More recently, Yeti patented a new suspension design system called Switch Technology: it is a double-link system that uses an eccentric mechanism that can change direction as the bike moves. In 2014, this technology was further refined, and Yeti mountain bikes now feature Switch Infinity technology. The new patented design was developed in conjunction with Fox Racing Shox and features a "translating pivot" that improves the bike's rear axle travel. This rear suspension design modification has been used on Yeti dual-suspension models, including the SB5, SB4.5, SB6, SB5.5, SB100, SB130, and SB150.
