Interface for mounting a right I-Spec EV shift lever on Trickstuff Piccola, Direttissima, or Maxima hydraulic brake levers.
The UNI interface compatible with Shimano I-SPEC EV has been designed specifically for Trickstuff hydraulic brake levers. In addition to the 14 mm axial adjustment range, it offers an angular adjustment range of about 40 degrees and can only be mounted on the right side. In this case, the shift lever mounting point moves further inward, toward the center of the handlebar.

The Trickstuff Direttissima disc brake convinces with stability, defined bite point, and fine dosing. The four pistons of the C42 brake caliper provide strong braking power. Ergonomically, the lever width offers a wide adjustment range. The brake operates reliably even with higher installation weights, for example on e-bikes, and is characterized by excellent heat management. This is due to the use of Bionol, which is particularly temperature-stable and does not cause problems even down to -15 °C, stainless steel pistons, and POWER+ insulating brake pads. The clear bite point is created by the finely tuned gear ratio from lever to brake and promotes intuitive operation. Trickstuff optimizes dosing capability by constantly reducing friction in the system: virtually frictionless roller bearings, PU seals at contact points, high-pressure Kevlar-coated flexible hoses, and a lever with 4x bearings contribute.
The Direttissima features progressive braking force, meaning the more you pull the lever, the more the brakes are applied. The sensation of having to pull ever harder on long descents to achieve the same braking power belongs to the past. Regarding the lever: it was designed so that no surface structure can irritate the user during braking and so that the finger can glide closer to the lever. This way there is no need to twist the hand, and a full grip on the handlebar can be maintained. The two-piece milling clamp compensates for minor deviations in the handlebar circumference. The brake set consists of parts for the front and rear wheel.

MODULATION: Friction in the system is the enemy of good modulation. The constant use of roller bearings and special PU seals minimizes internal friction in Direttissima, ensuring exceptionally sensitive modulation.
GRIP POINT: a simple operation cannot be achieved if the bite point is as hard as wood or soft and spongy. The key lies in the ratio between the commanded pistons and the lever kinematics. The overall transmission ratio increase compared to the previous model results in a well-defined yet pleasantly elastic bite point.
ERGONOMICS: The Direttissima lever has no corners or edges. It has been shaped with specially milled heads to ensure braking without bite points even after kilometers of descent. Holes, grooves, or recesses have also been omitted to suit the natural finger sliding movement. STABILITY: Direttissima also stands out for the much-cited CLEG stability. The polished stainless steel brake pistons and the organic heat-insulating pads reduce heat transfer to the brake fluid and protect the seals. With the Trickstuff Dachle rotor (2.05 mm rotor thickness, available separately) the stability of the Direttissima can be further optimized. CURVE

With the MAXIMA we set out to end any debate about the most powerful bicycle brake. It is the most powerful brake we have ever built and thus the most powerful bicycle brake in the world. Building a powerful brake was fairly straightforward. The less obvious part was building a brake that, despite its power, still featured the usual exceptional modulation of all Trickstuff brakes. After all, power is worthless without control.
It seems to have worked. Our testers Mick Hannah, Jakob Breitwieser, Nina Hoffmann and Gee & Rachel Atherton are excited. They have already won numerous World Cup Downhill medals with the MAXIMA.
MAIN FEATURES OF THE TRICKSTUFF MAXIMA BRAKE PAIR:
- ERGONOMY: Nothing distracts or bothers the footrest as much as angles and edges. That’s why we don’t have any at the contact point between brake and rider. The surface shape, produced with special milling heads, ensures a brake with no pressure points even after kilometers of downhill runs. Finger placement is also free of annoying friction points such as holes, grooves, or depressions. The brake lever should not overpower the finger, but the finger should overpower the lever. During the natural braking motion, the finger slides on the brake lever as it approaches the handlebar. This movement must be supported by a smooth surface and not hindered by static friction. This means the hand must not rotate to compensate: the handlebar stays firmly in the grip. Give it a try.
- HANDLEBAR CLAMP: The two‑piece milled handlebar clamp is significantly more stable than the previous band clamp and generously compensates for handlebar tolerances. Of course, it is designed for use with our shift lever interfaces or hydraulic dropper lever.
- TOOL-FREE LEVER WIDTH ADJUSTMENT: Simple, efficient, appreciated by our riders: for a quick brake adjustment for the next track.
- BRAKE LINE
The MAXIMA is supplied with Goodridge steel brake lines. The stainless steel braid provides the most pressure-resistant brake line of all bicycle brakes. The result is a defined pressure point despite the enormous transmission ratio.
- Goodridge flexible steel brake hose has a diameter of 6 mm (compared to 5 mm on other brake hoses). Therefore, it does not pass through the internal cable routing openings on all frames. If this is an issue for you, we will be happy to supply you with a bare steel flexible hose. This has a diameter of 5 mm, as the steel mesh is not plastic-coated.
- The MAXIMA is also available with a high-pressure resistant Kevlar hose (5 mm).
- DOT vs oil? No other question occupies the minds of brake experts more than brake fluid. It’s more a religious matter than technical.
The fact is—and practice proves it—that both work! Both work! For the MAXIMA we opted for oil, but not just any oil: our Bionol by DANICO is a plant-based oil with an extremely high boiling point: 300°C, i.e. higher than the boiling point of DOT 5.1. The result: even greater protection against brake fluid boil-off.
- BRAKE PADS
For the MAXIMA we adopted the shape of Hope V4 brake pads. This pad has a wide surface and contributes to the MAXIMA’s stability. Like all Trickstuff brakes, the MAXIMA is approved for use with third-party pads and rotors.

Trickstuff brake discs have been the first choice for many years when it is necessary to manage particularly high braking loads. With the help of the proven friction ring with its special hole arrangement, it is possible to successfully counteract the dreaded glazing of the pads. The new brake discs also have a roof-shaped bevel (Dachle) on the outer circumference, which greatly simplifies the mounting of the rotor, because the rounded bevel makes it easier to insert the brake disc into the caliper. In addition, the friction ring features more material than most current brake discs. In fact, the heat inevitably generated during braking must be absorbed for the most part by the brake disc and then released into the surrounding air. Thanks to the presence of more material, the new Trickstuff discs ensure worry-free braking on long descents and during continuous braking and are the ideal complement for all current ultra-light brake calipers.
Trickstuff guarantees an extremely precise thickness of the discs within +/- 0.005 millimeters, final dimension is 2.05 millimeters. As material, a particularly high-quality stainless steel is used, heat-treated at 1,100 degrees Celsius and has a hardness of at least 36 HRC. The glass surfaces deform less when exposed to heat, are mechanically very stable and have an extraordinarily long service life.

This sheath allows you to get the most out of the braking system.The braking point of a hydraulic disc brake is determined not only by the brake design and the air-free system, but also by the pressure resistance of the hose. Trickstuff brakes achieve their excellent performance with the lightweight high-pressure Kevlar hoses (up to 630 bar), which are installed as standard.
