After eight generations and over two decades of development, it is not just the fastest Tarmac ever: it is the fastest racing bike in the world. Are your legs ready?
Aerodynamics or lightness alone do not win races: what matters is speed. To achieve this speed it is necessary to create a no-compromise combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and compliance. Thanks to complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest racing bike on any route: 16.6 seconds over 40 km of flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-Sanremo course, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.
SPECIALIZED S-WORKS TARMAC SL8 2025 FRAME MAIN FEATURES:
AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it is most needed, and in the process we have created our fastest road bike ever – yes, more aerodynamic even than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to achieve maximum advantage. The fork steerer is positioned behind the front of the frame’s head tube to offer much lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to the new UCI rules, for the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we have ever made, to ensure that the turbulent air around the legs can flow more easily towards the rear of the bike.
LIGHTNESS: To create the Tarmac SL8 and make the most aerodynamic bike while respecting the minimum weight requirements imposed by the UCI, we were inspired by what we learned with the Aethos. The team produced a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. By focusing on maximum possible lightness in the down tube area, the seat tube, and the rear of the bike, we applied the lessons learned in the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to stresses that it was possible to reduce material thickness, eliminating the superfluous. *Except for that time when Kasper Asgreen raced with our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.
RIDE QUALITY: The stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Tarmac SL8 is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it is precise in the most demanding situations and responds immediately and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, in saddle the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable, filtering 6% more of the vibrations coming from the ground and allowing you to attack corners with a feeling of agility and balance unique in the world of racing bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7 model, with the same generous clearance for 32 mm tires, so you can use higher-volume tires when necessary.

STRUCTURE: SpeedCOREThe highest performing tubeless-ready road structure of our gamma uses a layer of compound mixed with aramid that covers the inner layer of the tyre, allowing air retention. This new structure makes the tyre more resistant, thanks to the presence of aramid, but at the same time less stiff and faster, due to the greater flexibility of the compound compared to a bead-to-bead fabric. The casing is then completed by a Nylon tela with 120 tpi and by a puncture protection layer, also in aramid.
