The CANNONDALE CAAD13 DISC 105 is a fast, smooth and agile race bike with a ultra-light SmartForm C1 Premium aluminum frame and Full Carbon fork. The tube shapes are specifically designed to reduce drag while keeping the bike light and fast. The aerodynamic profile of the frame tubes reduces drag by up to 30% while maintaining identical weight and stiffness to classic round-section tubes. The rear triangle SAVE, integrated seat collar and KNOT27 seatpost contribute to smooth handling.The lowered rear triangle and the ability to fit wide tires guarantee the best possible balance between unbeatable comfort and efficient stiffness. Possibility to mount truly large tires, such as 30 mm, for maximum comfort and high performance on the road. Speed-release thru-axle pins allow fast wheel mounting/dismounting and are compatible with most thru-axle wheel sets. The R5 has always had one purpose: to reach the top as quickly as possible. But a finish line set at the end of a long climb rarely lines up with the day’s only ascent. Usually a race isn’t decided on the descent, but you can lose it easily while going down. A climbing bike that can’t tackle a switchback on the descent tastes like a cup of decaf coffee. This is the fourth generation of the Cervélo R5, and while weight and stiffness have improved over the years, handling and unmatched agility have remained constant since its first day of life.
FASTER IN EVERY DIRECTION
The new R5 frame weighs 130 g less than the previous model, a 16% reduction. Also, even though aerodynamics wasn’t a primary goal for this frame as it would be for an S5 or a P5, the integrated cable solution reduced aerodynamic drag by 25 g.
DARKER AT NIGHT, LIGHTER THAN AIR
The black color can absorb all light, but the Cervélo Five Black is far from heavy. This ultra-minimalistic graphic and paint package results in a significantly lighter frame: you won’t even see it coming.
LESS RIGID, ALWAYS FAST
The R5 is rigid, but not overly so. A perfect balance of handling, stability and power transfer that feel “just right” and keep you fresh and ready to face the road ahead.
Turbulent Aero
This year’s novelty for the R5 models is the standard Reserve 34|37 TA wheelset. TA stands for Turbulent Aero, a new way of thinking about aerodynamics. Reserve and Cervélo developed a protocol to replicate real-world wind conditions in wind-tunnel tests so as to develop aerodynamic profile shapes that perform better for everyday use. This means the wheels are not only light, responsive and fast, but also exceptionally stable and safe in all wind conditions.
POWER INTEGRATED SRAM
The Red and Force versions include the Quarq Zero powermeter integrated into the crankset. Integrating a powermeter translates to improved stiffness, lighter weight and greater accuracy than aftermarket solutions, and the DZero provides power measurement accurate to +/- 1.5%, even with variable temperatures.

Aerodynamics has been important in the development of the Tarmac and all our race bikes, but lightness is also a fundamental characteristic for road bikes. Previously, aerodynamic bikes always compromised on weight: the more you reduced drag, the more weight increased. With the Tarmac, our design philosophy was to keep it at or below the UCI minimum weight from the start, without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like isotropic FEA analysis, and a bit of magic from the industry’s top engineers, we created a Fact 9r frame weighing just 1010 grams, without sacrificing aerodynamics, stiffness, or ride quality.
Also aiming to develop the best bike for road racing, we used our Rider-First Engineered™ technology to ensure the Tarmac was balanced and nimble in every frame size. Thanks to feedback from our professional team riders SD Workx, Soudal Quick-Step, and Red Bull - Bora-hansgrohe and based on their thousands of kilometers on the road, we made changes to the Tarmac. A new balance for ride quality between the front end and the rear triangle, so even the long days in the saddle are more comfortable, without compromising the legendary handling and responsiveness of the Tarmac.
In the journey to create the Tarmac, we created a clean, integrated cockpit. The cable routing is prepared for any configuration - including mechanical shifting, a traditional mount, round-diameter handlebars, etc. At the same time we preserved aerodynamic features.
