The SPECIALIZED S-WORKS PREVAIL 3 MIPS is a road bike helmet with high levels of comfort, thermoregulation and ventilation. It is the ultimate helmet for various uses, excelling in hot conditions, demanding climbs and mountain stages.The central “bridges” made of foam material, which block the aria from the center, effectively creating canali that increase the ventilation surface by 24.5% compared to the S-Works Prevail II Vent, have been eliminated and the helmet features the widest ventilation area ever made by Specialized. In caso of impact the task of the helmet is to dissipate the energy generated and more EPS foam means better energy management: the aramid cables run through the helmet and are anchored to the carbon fiber side panels. On impact, the AirCage* technology funziona like a suspension bridge and is designed to distribute localized forces throughout the helmet.The occipital adjustment allows a customized fit, and the angle of the helmet can also be managed for compatibility with glasses. The TriFix system now has thinner straps to avoid possible irritation, while the Mindset retention system, with micro dial, is lightweight and has even better grip for on-the-fly adjustment while riding. Here is the new Propero 4 casco - the aerodynamics of the S-Works Evade 3 combined with the extraordinary ventilation of the S-Works Prevail 3, and in addition, the comfort and reliability of all Specialized helmets, and the 5-star rating from the Virginia Tech Institute®. Every detail of the Propero 4 has been designed with the equation Aerodynamics + Ventilation + Lightness = Speed in mind.
AERODYNAMICS: In the development of the Propero 4, aerodynamics was the starting point, and for this purpose we carried out numerous CFD tests and tests in our wind tunnel. With the profile inspired by the S-Works Evade 3 we already gain 4 watts, that is 15 seconds over a distance of 40km.
VENTILATION: Taking inspiration from the S-Works Prevail 3 casco we achieved our quality targets. The casco S-Works TT 5 is an excellent example of our Made In Racing approach. Remco Evenepoel and Kasper Asgreen of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl spent countless hours in our Win Tunnel until we obtained the fastest TT casco we have ever made. Using CFD modeling, the casco team redesigned the TT casco by positioning the rear of the casco closer to the rider’s shoulders, reducing the vortice d'aria that creates drag. The casco S-Works TT 5 features a Classe 1 optical shield for zero distortion when looking at la strada, unlike traditional lenti that are typically formed with clear plastic. The shield has a water-repellent coating to help shed moisture in caso of bad weather on race day, as well as a high-quality anti-fog coating (EN166). Occipital base adjustment optimizes comfort by tailoring the fit to the individual head forma, and the angle of the casco can be adjusted for compatibility with glasses. The Procen offers more than just speed and protection, ensuring you stay cool and comfortable during the intense efforts of a time trial. Thanks to in-depth CFD tests and time spent on the track, the helmet exploits the Venturi effect to manage the airflow through the helmet and ensure maximum speed. A distinct trailing edge pushes the air away from the shoulders to further improve aerodynamics and airflow management for maximum speed. The large front air intakes help air pass through the helmet, ensuring full cooling with optimized airflow around the head and shoulders. The Procen uses an innovative two-position lens system to overcome a problem common to all helmets with visors: fogging of the lenses. In the “start position”, the lens is about 10 mm away from the helmet to allow air to circulate naturally, ideal for preventing fogging during the start of time trial races. It is also possible to ride with the lens in this position, with a clear line of sight in all directions. The visor lens is fully detachable and comes off the helmet even in the event of a crash.
