Pirelli Scorpion Race: new tires for Gravity racing, Enduro and Downhill

Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tire family dedicated to the MTB world, Pirelli completes the range with two gravity-oriented products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race M are the most versatile models: the central section is designed for precise and predictable traction during braking and acceleration. The side knobs are designed for maximum support and easier perception of the limit. The SmartEVO DH supersoft compound is combined with large knobs to optimize grip on all terrain types without compromising the overall tire stability thanks to a stiffer base compound. The DualWall+ is the downhill-specific carcass and consists of a two-ply 60tpi carcass, reinforced with a tear-resistant sidewall and a rubber heel insert. This construction is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and to absorb small vibrations and major impacts. The enduro-specific DualWall carcass, on the other hand, consists of a two-ply 120tpi carcass, reinforced with a rubber heel insert. This structure provides protection and support while remaining lightweight and offering the superior softness and speed of an Enduro Race tire.

The key element of SmartEVO DH is the combination of two rubber compound layers: on the outside there is a high-performance ultra-soft compound, while inside, under the tread, there is a cushioning compound that provides support and impact absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feeling of handling, responsiveness, and precision under extreme lateral loads typical of downhill racing. The outer rubber layer has been tuned with the understanding that rolling resistance remains a key factor when racing against the clock.

More flexible and lighter, for greater pedaling efficiency and a better riding feel: Two-layer 120tpi carcass, foldable and tubeless-ready, with anti-puncture rubber protection.
