Pirelli Scorpion Race: the new tyres for Gravity racing, Enduro and Downhill

Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tyre family dedicated to the mondo MTB, Pirelli completes the gamma with two gravity products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race M are the most versatile models: the central section is designed for precise and predictable traction when braking and accelerating. The side knobs are designed for maximum support and easier perception of the limit. The SmartEVO DH supersoft compound is combined with large knobs to optimise grip on all types of terrain without compromising the overall stability of the tyre thanks to a stiffer base compound. The DualWall+ is the casing specifically for downhill and is composed of a dual-ply 60 tpi casing, reinforced with a side anti-tear reinforcement and a rubber insert for the bead. This structure is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and is designed to absorb small vibrations and big impacts. The DualWall casing specific for enduro is instead made of a dual-ply 120 tpi casing, reinforced with a rubber insert for the bead. This structure provides protection and support, while keeping the weight low and offering the superior suppleness and speed of an Enduro Race tyre.

SmartEVO DH compound
Superior grip, better handling and controlled damping: pure racing compound formulation with Cap&Base structure for optimised handling.

The key element of SmartEVO DH is the combination of two layers of rubber compounds: on the outside there is a high-performance super-soft compound, while on the inside, under the tread, there is a damping compound that provides support and shock absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feeling of handling, responsiveness and precision under extreme lateral loads, typical of downhill racing. The outer rubber layer has been tuned bearing in mind that rolling resistance is still a key factor when racing against the clock.

Dual Wall
More flexible and lighter, for greater pedalling efficiency and a better riding feel: casing composed of 2 layers of 120 tpi, folding and tubeless ready, with anti-pinch rubber protection.
