The new fork replaces the original RXF34 and offers 130 mm of travel optimized for lightweight 29er trail bikes. With a weight of only 1698 g, the fork vanta a brand-new air spring and shock, adapted to the needs of the emerging riding style, while maintaining all the tratti that distinguish Öhlins’ high-performance, race-proven suspension, like its long-travel single-crown cousins RXF36 m.2 and RXF38 m.2. The OTX18 damper is specifically designed for downcountry and was born from the great success of the TTX18 featured in Öhlins downhill and trail forks. It shares several key components with its bigger brother TTX18, but weighs 27% less and is optimized for faster, smoother trail riding, finding an optimal balance between traction, control, weight and stiffness. Like all Öhlins dampers, the OTX18 offers impressive adjustability for fine tuning, with fifteen clicks for low-speed compression and rebound adjustment and three for high-speed compression adjustment. The new damper is paired with a robust yet lightweight air spring, equipped with a positive chamber and a self-adjusting negative chamber. The positive chamber allows you to adjust the spring curve according to your needs using the Öhlins volume spacer system. The negative chamber, on the other hand, is designed for fast trail riding and provides a soft initial feel and superb small-bump sensitivity. The surface and seals of the spring also minimize friction and breakaway force to improve the fork’s smooth feel. The fork chassis is very stiff and offers precise steering, and all this has been made possible thanks to a closed outer-tube design to increase stiffness, impact resistance and the volume of the lower legs. The increased air volume in the lower part of the fork enhances the effect of the air spring on overall performance. The RXF34 m.2 also benefits from the same race-proven floating axle design found on the RXF36 m.2 and RXF38 m.2, which reduces friction and further increases stiffness.
