The HOPE REAR HUB PRO 5 148 MM BOOST 32 HOLES E-BIKE combines 30 years of experience with the needs of current and future cycling technologies. One of the main design goals of the Pro 5 hub was to reduce aerodynamic drag in the transmission mechanism. To achieve this result, it was necessary to improve sealing with a zero-resistance labyrinth seal and an improved ratchet and pawl system, with new springs.
Another important update of the rear hubs is the increase in engagement points (from 44 to 108) thanks to a 6-pawl staggered hub design, where 3 pawls are engaged at any given time. This makes it possible to achieve the right balance between bite speed, load capacity, resistance, and durability, and in real terms it provides a feeling of speed on the trail while keeping the crank movement at an acceptable level without compromising hub movement freedom or reliability.
The hub is sold with a freewheel body specifically designed for e-bikes: all six pawls engage simultaneously, which reduces effort and increases load capacity and durability. The freewheel is fully made of stainless steel for better stability and wear resistance.
The outer part of the shell features a new profile to increase stiffness without adding weight, and the new axle design allows larger bearings to be mounted in a better arrangement to fit the latest standards of the freewheel bodies, while increasing load capacity at the same time.
