The HOPE REAR HUB PRO 5 148 MM BOOST 32 HOLES E-BIKE combines 30 years of experience with the needs of current and future cycling technologies. One of the main objectives in designing the Pro 5 hub was reducing drag in the drive mechanism. To achieve this result it was necessary to improve sealing with a new zero-resistance labyrinth seal and an improved ratchet and pawl system with new springs.
Another important update to the rear hubs is the increase in engagement points (from 44 to 108) thanks to a 6-offset-pawl hub design, in which 3 pawls are engaged at any one time. In this way it is possible to achieve the right balance between pickup speed, load capacity, strength and durability, and in practical terms you get a fast feel on the trail while keeping crank movement at an acceptable level without compromising hub free movement or its reliability.
The hub is sold with a freehub body specifically designed for e-bikes: all six pawls engage simultaneously, which both reduces lag and increases load capacity and durability. The freehub is made entirely of stainless steel for better stability and wear resistance.
The outer part of the shell has a new profile to increase stiffness without increasing weight, and the new axle design allows for larger bearings to be mounted in a better arrangement to fit the latest freehub standards while at the same time increasing load capacity.
