Roval Rapide - the fastest handlebars ever made
The new Roval Rapide Cockpit is much more than the fastest way to reach the finish line. It is the fastest attacking means we’ve ever created, with great aerodynamic advantages, shaving four more watts off the ultra-fast combination of Rapide handlebars with Tarmac stem. But to offer a winning advantage, more is required than pure aerodynamics. The objective for the Roval engineering team was simple: the Rapide Cockpit had to be the fastest handlebars ever made, with no compromises. It is aerodynamic, light, stiff, and conceived in collaboration with the world’s top athletes and Retül Fit experts, so as to seize victory.

Aerodynamics
The removal of the linking components between the handlebar stem and the handlebar allowed the profile of the handlebar to be designed with a wing-like shape. This airfoil has been optimized to provide the maximum advantage in clean air at speeds observed in long solo breakaways and also in full-sprint World Tour stages. While a four-watt improvement may seem small, it translates into a 32 cm advantage in a final 250 m sprint. When races are won by launching the bike, this is a winning difference.

Lightweight and stiff
By removing the linking components of the stem-to-handlebar connection, the Rapide Cockpit is 50 grams lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the Rapide handlebar with a Tarmac stem. Made from premium high-modulus carbon fiber, which offers the ideal stiffness for the biggest and fastest sprinters in the World Tour, the Rapide Cockpit has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system Roval has ever made.

Positioning
The drawback of one-piece cockpits has long been the positioning, but Roval has collaborated with Retül Fit professionals and top athletes to ensure nearly all cyclists can find their proper saddle position. Offering 15 different combinations of handlebar stem and handlebar, all at -6 degrees, thus covering most race positions. The top-to-drop radius has been sculpted for wrist freedom both in out-of-saddle and in a tucked aerodynamic position, while curvature and beveling reflect the Rapide handlebar’s preferred shape.
