The brand new HANDLEBAR SPECIALIZED COCKPIT ROVAL RAPIDE 120MM X 420MM is much more than the fastest way to reach the finish line, as it offers substantial aerodynamic advantages, shaving another four watts from the ultra-fast combination of Rapide handlebars with Tarmac stem. The handlebar is aerodynamic, light, and rigid, and was designed in collaboration with the world’s best athletes as well as Retül Fit Specialized experts.
The complete removal of components that connected the handlebar to the stem allowed the handlebar profile to be designed in a wing-like shape, providing maximum advantage in clean air at speeds reached in long solo breakaways as well as in solo sprints. A 4-watt improvement represents an advantage of 32 cm in a final 250 m sprint. When races are won by pushing the bike, this is a winning difference.
By removing the stem–handlebar connecting components, this cockpit is 50 g lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the Rapide handlebar with a Tarmac stem. The cockpit is fully made of premium high-modulus carbon fiber that offers all the rigidity needed by sprinters and has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system ever produced by Specialized.
The 15 different combinations of handlebar stem and handlebar, all at -6 degrees, allow you to find the right saddle position: the top-to-drop radius has been sculpted for wrist freedom of movement both in outside-the-saddle and in an aerodynamic, tucked position, while the curvature and flare reproduce the Rapide handlebar.
