The brand-new SPECIALIZED ROVAL RAPIDE COCKPIT HANDLEBAR 120mm x 420mm is much more than the fastest way to reach the finish line, as it offers great aerodynamic advantages, shaving a further four watts off the ultra-fast combination of Rapide handlebar with Tarmac stem. The handlebar is aerodynamic, light, stiff, and has been designed in collaboration both with the best athletes in the world and with the Specialized Retül Fit experts.
The complete removal of the components that connected the stem and handlebar made it possible to design the profile of the handlebar in a wing-like shape and provide both maximum advantage in clean air at speeds found in long solo breakaways and in solo sprints. An improvement of 4 watts represents an advantage of 32 cm in a final 250 m sprint. When races are won by throwing the bike at the line, this is a winning difference.
By removing the connecting components between the stem and the handlebar, this cockpit is 50 g lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the combination of Rapide handlebar with Tarmac stem. The cockpit is made entirely of premium high-modulus carbon fiber that offers all the stiffness needed for sprinters and has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system ever made by Specialized.
The 15 different combinations of stem and handlebar, all at -6 degrees, allow you to find the right position in the saddle: the radius from the tops to the drops has been sculpted to give wrist freedom of movement both out of the saddle and tucked in an aerodynamic position, while curvature and flare replicate the Rapide handlebar.
