The HANDLEBAR SPECIALIZED COCKPIT ROVAL RAPIDE 110MM X 440MM is much more than the fastest way to reach the finish line. It offers aerodynamic advantages by shaving an additional four watts from the ultra-fast combination of the Rapide handlebar with the Tarmac stem. The handlebar is aerodynamic, lightweight, rigid, and was designed in collaboration with the world’s top athletes as well as Retül Fit Specialized experts.
The complete removal of components that connected the handlebar stem to the handlebar allowed the handlebar profile to be shaped like a wing and provide both the maximum advantage in clean air at speeds typical of long solo breaks and in solo sprints. A 4-watt improvement represents a 32 cm advantage on a final 250 m sprint. When races are won by launching the bike, this is a winning difference.
By removing the linkage components between the stem and the handlebar, this cockpit is 50 g lighter (100 mm x 420 mm) than the Rapide handlebar with the Tarmac stem combination. The cockpit is fully made from premium high-modulus carbon fiber that provides all the rigidity required for sprinters and has a higher rigidity-to-weight ratio than any two-piece system ever produced by Specialized.
Fifteen different combinations of stem and handlebar, all at -6 degrees, allow you to find the right saddle position: the arc from top to drop has been sculpted for wrist freedom of movement both in the out-of-saddle and in an aerodynamic tucked position, while the curvature and bevel follow the Rapide handlebar.
