It abandons the carcass structure with filament placement at 45°. The carcass construction has a strand arrangement with a more obtuse angle. So on the outside the compounds and technologies used by Schwalbe remain the same, but inside, what isn’t visible changes completely. This technology called Radial by Schwalbe was developed during the entire downhill World Cup season, leading to new riding feel and tire behavior. The filament arrangement ensures that the carcass material overlaps with less tension and in a shorter way, so the tire deforms more precisely to respond more flexibly and adaptably to the terrain and its obstacles. The contact area between the tread and the ground increases by 30% compared to traditional tires and even with a 50% pressure increase, the contact area remains 15% higher with the same flexibility. This means inner pressure can be more reliably tuned for performance without negatively affecting behavior. Shredda Gravity is a Schwalbe novelty that adopts Radial construction and is available in front or rear versions with differentiated tread extensions; its ideal terrain is that tackled with e-bikes on softer, muddier grounds. At the front the tread has a thickness never before produced by Schwalbe, with 10 mm height for the shoulders and 8 in the center. The central lugs present as pyramids to resist abrasion and stabilize control, while the angled shoulder lugs deform and close during riding.
