The YETI SB120C, with KIT C2, is a "downcountry" bike: it has the lightness of an XC bike, it pedals like an XC, it descends faster than an XC bike and has no handlebar blocks.
Switch-Infinity floating-pivot suspension defines new expectations for kinematics, longevity, sensitivity, and power.
The frame silhouette draws inspiration from the SB160 and the torsional precision and ground clearance are increased, without conveying unwanted feedback to the rider. And the refined Switch Infinity makes this bike far more capable than its weight might suggest.
The new pivot design foresees the use of 100% standard-sized cartridge bearings fixed with precision: floating axles machined. All bearings are press-fit into the rear triangle or the front triangle.
A relatively linear progression curve provides riders with an active and usable travel with a 30% sag, a margin much larger than other 120 mm travel bikes. The SB120’s small impacts sensitivity offers incredible traction. The mid-stroke of the travel has support to ensure riders don’t use up all the travel when decisively tackling corners or lifting the wheels off the ground. The “Oh Shit!” moments are easily managed: the compression curve has been tuned for greater control from start to finish.
The bottom bracket is forged aluminum with integrated ISCG-05 adapters. If the chainring support is damaged, the new Yeti models use the UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) interface, the standard support for a rear derailleur.
The shorter seat tube allows the installation of a longer dropper post. Most riders will be able to run a 150 mm dropper on Small frames*, 175 mm on Medium*, and 200 mm+ on L-XXL* (Depends on the actual saddle height for the bike size.).
The one-piece linkage for the shocks, ultra-compact and minimalist, was specifically designed for SB120’s lower suspension travel needs. Practically it optimizes leverage rate by pushing the shock forward in the frame. This forward positioning allows a wide range of impact compatibility, reduces the seat height, reduces overall size of links and pivots, increases compatibility with a bottle cage, and increases the available reach of the down tube.
The agile reach allows the bike to race through singletracks. Its vertical saddle angle facilitates climbing. Its head angle and the balanced travel of the suspension prioritize downhill fun, making it an incredible Trans-Cascadia-style bike: SB120’s geometry is so balanced and agile that you might not even think about how much travel you have available.
