The brakes are the most important safety part of the bicycle. Replacing any part of the braking system must be performed by a qualified mechanic who must follow the manufacturer's procedures for the bike.
Check disc wear and, if necessary, replace it. Also verify the correct functioning of the braking system.
Check that the friction surfaces of the pads and the disc are not touched by grease, oil, or anything that could reduce the friction coefficient. Do not contaminate the friction surfaces with fluids, oils, or greases that significantly reduce brake efficiency.
New pads must brake at least for 500 meters. The force on the lever should be light and progressively stronger to gradually achieve greater braking pressure.
