With 170 mm of travel and the same revolutionary features as the 36, the 38 redefines the characteristics of a long-travel single-crown fork and sets a new benchmark in safety, performance, and durability.Floating axles on this fork provide a clear performance advantage due to their unique ability to align the exact wheel mounting surface width with the front hub flange spacing, creating perfect frame alignment and eliminating unwanted friction between the upper and lower stanchions. Floating axles ensure much smoother suspension movement throughout the fork’s travel, greatly improving feel and overall ride quality.The fork is equipped with a new quick-release floating axle system with a lever, patent-pending, combining the benefits of a floating axle with the ease of an tool-free quick release. With this system, spacing is locked by a floating steerer, allowing removal and reinstallation of the front wheel repeatedly while maintaining perfect fork alignment. The floating axle positioning is factory pre-set, so if you’re not sure how to use the floating axle system or simply don’t want to deal with it, you can simply install the front wheel and continue your ride. When the fork compresses, the air volume inside the lower legs decreases, increasing air pressure. The more the fork compresses, the higher the pressure rises. This effect can unintentionally prevent full travel from being reached. Fox channels help relieve this issue by drastically increasing the air volume inside the lower leg and thus reducing the amount of unwanted additional pressure ramps.Oil circulates in the top of the lower legs, continuously lubricating the foam rings and bushings as the fork compresses and extends during its travel. Bleeds, located on the bottom of the legs, allow equal atmospheric pressure distribution with the simple push of a button. The buildup of pressure in the lower tips drastically reduces fork performance, preventing full travel and diminishing sensitivity and responsiveness to small bumps. The lower part of the fork is designed to shed every possible gram without compromising stiffness and the strength required by modern enduro and gravity bikes. The arch-shaped design is engineered to pair perfectly with modern Enduro and Downhill bikes. Steering tube profiles have grown larger and fork offsets shorter. The new arch shape accounts for this need, protruding forward to provide ample space for the steering tube at full compression. The GRIP2 damper is easy to tune and provides ultra-precise ride. The patented Variable Valve Control (VVC) technology allows simple external adjustment with a simple twist of a dial. EVOL technology increases the negative air spring volume, optimizing small-bump sensitivity. The EVOL air spring’s linear curve provides softer initial travel, greater mid-stroke support, and a more adjustable ramp-up. EVOL advantages are further emphasized by the fork’s new bleed channels which help reduce trapped air pressure in the lower legs, allowing the EVOL air spring to operate freely without unwanted interference.
