Pirelli Scorpion Race: the new tires for gravity racing, Enduro and Downhill
Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tire family dedicated to the MTB world, Pirelli completes the range with two gravity products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race S are the models for soft terrain. The tread pattern has been specifically designed for loose terrain, with large and tall knobs to offer superior mechanical grip, supporting aggressive riding in a wide range of conditions, up to light mud. The super-soft SmartEVO DH compound is combined with large knobs to provide superb grip on slippery surfaces, without compromising overall tire stability thanks to a stiffer base compound. The DualWall+ is the downhill-specific casing and consists of a 60tpi dual-layer casing, reinforced with a puncture-resistant side reinforcement and a rubber insert for the bead. This structure is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and is designed to absorb small vibrations and large impacts. The enduro-specific DualWall casing is instead made up of a 120tpi dual-layer casing, reinforced with a rubber insert for the bead. This structure provides protection and support, while being lightweight and offering the softness and speed of an Enduro Race tire.

SmartEVO DH compound
Superior grip, better handling and controlled damping: pure competition-grade compound formulation with Cap&Base structure for optimized handling.

The key element of the SmartEVO DH is the combination of two rubber compound layers: on the outside there is a high-performance super-soft compound (42 Shore A*), while inside, under the tread, there is a cushioning compound that provides support and impact absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feel of handling, responsiveness and precision under extreme lateral loads typical of downhill racing. The outer rubber layer was tuned with the consideration that rolling resistance remains a key factor when racing against the clock.

Dual Wall+
Completely predictable side support, better impact absorption and high reliability: 2-layer 60tpi rigid TLR casing with anti-st pinch rubber insert and additional textile side reinforcement.
