Pirelli Scorpion Race: the new tyres for gravity racing, Enduro and Downhill
Three years after the launch of the Scorpion tyre family dedicated to the mondo MTB, Pirelli completes the gamma with two gravity products designed for the most demanding Enduro (EN) and Downhill (DH) races.

Scorpion™ Race S are the models for soft terrain. The tread pattern has been designed specifically for loose terrain, with large and higher knobs to offer superior mechanical grip, supporting aggressive riding in a wide range of conditions, up to light mud. The super-soft SmartEVO DH compound is combined with large knobs to offer superb grip on slippery surfaces, without compromising the overall stability of the tyre thanks to a stiffer base compound. The DualWall+ is the downhill-specific casing and is composed of a dual-ply 60 tpi casing, reinforced with a sidewall anti-tear reinforcement and a rubber insert for the bead. This structure is designed to provide superior protection against cuts and punctures and is designed to absorb small vibrations and big impacts. The DualWall casing specific for enduro is instead made of a dual-ply 120 tpi casing, reinforced with a rubber insert for the bead. This structure provides protection and support, while having limited weight and the superior suppleness and speed of an Enduro Race tyre.

SmartEVO DH compound
Superior grip, better handling and controlled damping: Pure race-compound formulation with Cap&Base structure for optimized handling.

The key element of SmartEVO DH is the combination of two layers of rubber compounds: on the outside there is a super-soft compound ad alte prestazioni (42 Shore A*), while on the inside, under the tread, there is a damping compound that provides support and shock absorption. The two compounds work together seamlessly, giving the rider a feeling of handling, responsiveness and precision under extreme lateral loads, typical of downhill racing. The outer rubber layer has been tuned bearing in mind that rolling resistance is still a key factor when racing against the tempo.

Dual Wall+
Fully predictable lateral support, better shock absorption and high reliability: 2-ply 60 tpi TLR casing rigida with anti-pinch rubber insert and additional textile sidewall reinforcement.
