The Mondraker CRAFTY CARBON XR is anything but a normal e-bike! Equipped with the BOSCH Performance Line CX Race motor, it is one of the first bikes on the market to be fitted with this motor. A new addition to the list of equipment is the Bosch Kiox 500, which has a color display 40% larger than its predecessor. An excellent combination of sleek look and never-before-seen motor performance and features.

New Bosch Performance Line CX Race motor
Long name – clear statement: Race. The new Bosch motor is as exclusive as it is powerful. More aggressive, more dynamic and with unprecedented acceleration, Race mode offers 400% motor support compared to 340% in Turbo mode on the conventional Performance CX model. Torque remains unchanged at 85 Nm. Equipped with a magnesium housing, the motor weighs 2,750 grams and is therefore exactly 150 grams lighter than the standard motor of the Performance Line CX series.

One of the most important features of the new Bosch Performance Line CX Race motor is the “Race” mode, a mode above the traditional “Turbo” mode. Both modes can be configured via the eBike Flow app, as well as the settings for the other support levels, dynamic acceleration, initial acceleration, maximum speed and maximum torque.

Technologies

Stealth Air Carbon starts with the selection of the best high-modulus carbon fibers, followed by the development of a precisely engineered layup. This allows Mondraker to achieve the lowest possible weight without sacrificing reliability or stability. Based on the special components of an e-bike, the design introduces organically flowing lines and soft edges for the first time: an innovative look rich in refined aesthetics. This makes the new Crafty Carbon a true e-MTB icon. Its sleek and powerful design plays a key role in the characteristic “Mondraker look” – so extraordinarily elegant that the Crafty Carbon is truly unique!

All Crafty Carbon RR SL, RR and R frames share the same Stealth Air Carbon production process and its exceptional properties. They are all based on the same unique and exclusive construction, the selection of the highest quality carbon fibers and careful manufacturing. All this makes the Crafty Carbon the most versatile, sophisticated and exclusive e-MTB currently available.

FORWARD GEOMETRY
The Crafty Carbon benefits from Mondraker’s last 8 years of experience with Forward Geometry. And as an e-bike, it has the best Forward Geometry ever created for an e-MTB: a steep 76° seat angle ensures an optimal and efficient riding position. The optimized chainstay length of 455 mm has been perfectly balanced to offer maximum climbing traction and playful handling. The typical long reach, combined with the short front center for which Mondraker bikes are famous, and the slack 65.5° head angle and 160 mm Fox fork with short offset ensure unmatched front wheel traction and steering precision.

Above all, the short 44 mm offset of the suspension fork fully unfolds its positive influence on steering characteristics only in combination with the long reach and the short FG30 stem of Forward Geometry. A short offset means a longer trail, which improves directional stability and makes handling light and extremely controllable. The better front wheel grip is the icing on the cake: more speed, more safety, more fun!

ZERO KINEMATICS OPTIMIZED FOR E-BIKES
Zero is Mondraker’s patented suspension system, a technological pioneer for suspension systems with a virtual pivot point. Composed of 2 links that compress and control the shock from both sides, Zero is a distinctive feature of all Mondraker Full Suspension models. Like the entire 2020 range, the Crafty Carbon introduces a further improved development stage of the Zero suspension system, which has been specially adapted to the requirements and special characteristics of e-MTBs.

All three Crafty Carbon RR SL, RR and R models are equipped with FOX DPS shocks with metric trunnion mount and internal tune, developed specifically for use with the Zero suspension system and its 150 mm travel.

AIR FLOW COOLING SYSTEM
The Crafty Carbon features an innovative cooling system that directs airflow through the down tube. Air enters through the openings near the head tube, flows along the battery and exits at the base of the down tube. This effectively dissipates the battery’s residual heat, guaranteeing its enormous performance even under full load.

HIDDEN HOUSING ROUTING
The Crafty Carbon is equipped with Mondraker’s HHG (Hidden Housing Guide) technology, which routes all the gear, brake and, on the Crafty Carbon R and RR, dropper post cables and lines inside the frame. Particularly interesting is the new Acros ICR (Integrated Cable Routing) headset, developed specifically for the Crafty Carbon in collaboration between Acros and Mondraker. It allows the cables to be routed through the headset from above, ensuring a clean and tidy aesthetic.

Another feature of Race mode is the “extended boost”, already known from eMTB mode, but in Race mode it has an even longer boost that opens up unimaginable possibilities in technical sections, single trails and climbs.

Like the other Smart System models in the CRAFTY 2023 collection, the CRAFTY CARBON XR is also equipped with the new Bosch System Controller (a module integrated into the top tube that can be used to switch the motor on and off, but also to change from one support mode to another). The external Kiox 500 display can also be used to monitor all ride data, providing the widest possible range of information on the spectacular CRAFTY CARBON XR.
