A product that is the result of collaboration with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Mips, with whom we shared our CAD models and carried out finite element analysis (FEA) to study skull malleability in prima infanzia. This led us to use larger amounts of low-density foam, to better protect the heads of small children, which are more fragile and still growing.
DATA-DRIVEN INNOVATION. Thanks to the collaboration with KTH and Mips, with Mio 2 we were able to increase the amount of low-density foam by 16.5%, with an increase in casco size of just 2.5%.
COMFORT. The Mio 2 may feature the most innovative technology, but it is useless if the casco is not worn correctly. This is why the Mio 2 is available in child-specific sizes and is equipped with our SX adjustment system, so that it adapts to head size and always ensures maximum comfort. With the Tri-Fix strap splitter, adjusting the casco fit is really child’s play.

COMFORT: The Shuffle 2 LED casco has many technological features, which however are functional only if worn in the modo correct. Ecco why the sizes are child-specific and why we use the SX retention system that helps achieve the right and comfortable fit. The Tri-Fix device ensures easy strap adjustment.

In developing the Dissident II we collaborated with athletes Loïc Bruni and Finn Iles, in order to design a casco that would meet the needs of the downhill race circuit. With five EPS inserts we were able to vary the density of the expanded foam depending on its position inside the casco – allowing us to create a lightweight casco and, at the same time, manage the energy of any impacts in the best possible way. The softer foam absorbs more energy in impacts. The Dissident II casco also features the MIPS Evolve Solution system – which helps redirect the rotational movimenti of impacts. For the Evolve Solution we used fabric to secure the internal pockets, eliminating any noise.
Coolness is not just a mental matter, it is difficult to concentrate if it is very hot, especially if it feels like you are in a sauna with your head. We therefore decided to improve the ventilation system to let a greater amount of aria in, with strategic vents to far fuoriuscire the aria calda, keeping the rider’s head fresh and comfortable in any situation.
Especially in the context of a race, it is very important that the casco is cool, light and not bulky, because it reduces rider fatigue and improves reactivity. The construction with inserts provides lightness without compromising protection. We do non know what was going through Finn Iles’ head during his winning run in Mont-Sainte-Anne, but we do know that he did not have to worry about the casco. Here is the new Propero 4 casco - the aerodynamics of the S-Works Evade 3 combined with the extraordinary ventilation of the S-Works Prevail 3, and in addition, the comfort and reliability of all Specialized helmets, and the 5-star rating from the Virginia Tech Institute®. Every detail of the Propero 4 has been designed with the equation Aerodynamics + Ventilation + Lightness = Speed in mind.
AERODYNAMICS: In the development of the Propero 4, aerodynamics was the starting point, and for this purpose we carried out numerous CFD tests and tests in our wind tunnel. With the profile inspired by the S-Works Evade 3 we already gain 4 watts, that is 15 seconds over a distance of 40km.
VENTILATION: Taking inspiration from the S-Works Prevail 3 casco we achieved our quality targets. We incorporated the rear vents of the S-Works Prevail 3, and we introduced 2 mm micro-canali that create turbulence in the airflow through the casco, thus creating a continuous and refreshing passage of air.

Remco Evenepoel and Kasper Asgreen of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl spent countless hours in our Win Tunnel until we obtained the fastest TT casco we have ever made. Using CFD modeling, the casco team redesigned the TT casco by positioning the rear of the casco closer to the rider’s shoulders, reducing the vortice d'aria that creates drag. The casco S-Works TT 5 features a Classe 1 optical shield for zero distortion when looking at la strada, unlike traditional lenti that are typically formed with clear plastic. The shield has a water-repellent coating to help shed moisture in caso of bad weather on race day, as well as a high-quality anti-fog coating (EN166).
