Oils and greases are essential for keeping the shock absorber well lubricated. Shock absorber oils are composed of synthetic or mineral blends with the addition of special additives such as viscosity thinners, foam inhibitors, water or air emulsion inhibitors, and special particles to protect the seals. The oil's role is to ensure the proper functioning of the suspension system, and currently, oil has two functions: Lubrication: The lubricating oil keeps the sliders, sponges, and bushings well lubricated, minimizing friction and increasing the smoothness of contact parts, thus reducing wear. The lubricating oil is inserted into the sliders after tightening, ensuring it settles well and creates a smooth, long-lasting seal. Hydraulics: These are special oils that allow for the creation and management of compression and rebound (also known as dampers). The oil passes through calibrated orifices that dampen the compression or re-extension of the spring element. This is the hydraulic system.
