Oakley

Oakley was founded by James Jannard in 1975 in his garage in Foothill Ranch, California, starting with the production and sale of motocross grips out of the back of his van, later moving on to BMX grips, elbow pads, and goggles. In 1980, Oakley began distributing its first sunglasses, the O-Frame, which remains one of the company's best-selling lines today. In 1993, the company launched ski sunglasses and later began production of the Oakley Fogskin. In 2007, the American company was acquired by the Italian company Luxottica, which also distributes the Ray-Ban, Persol, and Vogue brands. Over time, Oakley has evolved and expanded, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of sunglasses and accessories for bikers (and others).
