The R5 is a legendary bike. From the mythical R5CA, capable of breaking every limit, to Wout van Aert’s historic victory on Mont Ventoux, this bike has been an integral part of Cervélo’s history for over twenty years.
The new R5 is an incredibly lightweight road bike — under 6 kg in RED and Dura-Ace builds — yet stiff enough to compete at the highest level of modern professional cycling, as demonstrated by Pauline Ferrand-Prévot when she rode it to victory at this summer’s Tour de France Femmes.
Nowadays, building a lightweight bike is relatively easy. The real challenge is creating one that combines lightness with the stiffness required to transfer all the power of the sport’s top champions to the road.
Designed for the great mountain stages of the Tour de France and for the steep, demanding climbs of the Vuelta a España, the R5 excels both uphill and downhill. A bike built for climbing must accelerate instantly, climb efficiently, and also deliver confidence and predictability on descents.
Although the UCI imposes a minimum weight limit of 6.8 kg for Pro races, we “mere mortals” can benefit the most from having the lightest road bike on the market.
CERVELO R5 ULTEGRA BIKE – KEY FEATURES:
Only 5.97 kg in size 56: The new R5 in size 56 weighs just 5.97 kg, a full 900 grams below the UCI minimum weight limit. The frame alone weighs 651 grams (size 56) and the fork 298 grams. In addition to a 100 g reduction in frame and fork weight, attention was paid to every single component, resulting in a total weight saving of 326 g across all Cervélo proprietary components.
Race-ready geometry: In terms of handling and ride quality, the geometry of the new R5 remains virtually unchanged, aside from a slight adjustment to the BB drop that allows for tires up to 29 mm. The fit, however, has been updated to mirror that of the S5. This means that if you switch between models, as Team Visma | Lease a Bike does, you’ll always maintain the same position and riding feel. If the R5 is your only bike, you can count on a modern, performance-oriented riding position.
One-piece handlebar: The brand-new R5 one-piece integrated HB18 handlebar not only reduces the bike’s weight by nearly 150 grams, but also improves aerodynamics by 2 watts compared to the previous model. Drawing on knowledge gained from the S5 handlebar, we developed a bar that is comfortable, fast, and stiff—ideal for long days in the saddle and hard-fought finishes. All handlebar dimensions comply with UCI regulations, including the most recent rule updates.
Ultralight Reserve 34 | 37 SL wheels: Designed specifically for the R5, the new Reserve 34|37 SL wheelset allowed us to save an additional 60 grams. The new wheels deliver the same strength and stiffness as before, thanks to a revised structure that reduces weight without compromising performance.
The one-piece handlebar and stem of the new R5 have played a key role in reducing overall weight, but we also know that a perfect fit is essential to get the most out of your new bike. Using complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike on any course: 16.6 seconds over 40 km on the flat, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-San Remo course, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

SPECIALIZED TARMAC SL8 PRO SRAM FORCE AXS 2026 BIKE KEY FEATURES:
AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process, we've created our fastest road bike ever—yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to maximize its advantage. The fork steerer is positioned further back than the front of the frame's head tube, resulting in significantly lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI regulations, the SL8 was able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring that turbulent air in the leg area flows more easily toward the rear of the bike.
LIGHTWEIGHT: To create the S-Works Tarmac SL8, we drew on what we learned from the Aethos to create the most aerodynamic bike yet meet the UCI minimum weight requirement. The team achieved a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. Focusing on minimizing weight in the downtube, seat tube, and tailtube, we incorporated lessons learned into the Aethos design. The frame’s shapes respond so efficiently to stresses and strains that we were able to reduce material thickness and eliminate unnecessary material. *With the exception of one time when Kasper Asgreen rode our 585-gram Aethos during a Tour stage.
RIDE QUALITY: The Tarmac SL8 has a 33% better stiffness-to-weight ratio than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling, precise in the most demanding situations and responding instantly and efficiently to pedal input. While the areas that support power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, the Tarmac SL8 feels more comfortable in the saddle, filtering out 6% more bumps, allowing you to attack corners with a more agile and balanced feel unlike any other road bike. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7, with the same generous 32mm tire clearance, allowing you to run larger tires when needed.

Stealth Air Carbon is our next-level carbon fiber construction process. The carbon fiber that makes up an ARID frame is designed, cut, and assembled to create the stiffest vertically and most comfortable frame ever to leave our labs. This compliance doesn't come at the expense of strength, as all our frames, including the ARID, must meet rigorous ISO standards before being put into production. Lateral stiffness, strength, durability, and power transmission are not incompatible with small-bump compliance and comfort.
BALANCE BETWEEN RIGIDITY AND COMFORT During the Stealth Air carbon manufacturing process, we optimize every tube and lug to best meet the design criteria, both to increase stiffness and responsiveness in the bottom bracket and head tube areas, and to improve compliance in the rear triangle for superior grip and comfort. The stiffness and responsiveness of the main triangle are particularly evident when applying power, promoting greater pedaling efficiency and acceleration on hardpack.
Overall, the flex of the seatstays combined with the stiffness of the frame results in a higher average speed on rough terrain. It's a sensation you can feel from the first pedal stroke.
5 FRAME SIZES, INFINITE POSSIBILITIES Our Forward geometry is designed to fit every rider. That's why we've expanded the size range for the ARID model, now available in S, M, ML, L, and XL. If the size differences were a bit too wide before, we're confident you'll find the perfect fit.
Tires up to 50 mm wideWe've paid the utmost attention to detail. The ARID features HHG internal cable routing, a universal derailleur hanger (UDH) for stiffness and precise shifting, six water bottle mounts for a variety of uses, and generous frame and fork dimensions for tires up to 50mm wide, ideal for those who want to tackle the most challenging terrain. The bike also features Mondraker's brand-new 'Carry-On' downtube storage system, so you can carry your gear without the need for backpacks that would spoil the aesthetics of your ARID.
CARRY-ON Three custom internal pockets, easily accessible with a Velcro closure, keep everything safe and organized, eliminating the need for additional bags or accessories for shorter trips. One bag is specifically designed to carry a spare tube and tire levers. Another is for a mini pump or CO2 canisters, and the third for a multitool... or you can use them for whatever else best suits your needs that day.
PLACE THE WATER BOTTLES WHERE YOU WANT When it comes to gravel, customization is everything. If you decide how you ride your ARID, then you should be able to customize it, too. In addition to traditional water bottle mounts in the frame's main triangle, there are also water bottle mounts under the down tube near the bottom bracket and up to three alternative mounting points on each fork leg. There are even threads for water bottle mounts on the top tube near the head tube! Every ARID has the ability to be unique; it's up to you to make your own mark.
