The champion Christopher expresses it this way: “This bike gives me everything I could want from a hardtail, with the added control and capabilities of a full suspension.” To achieve maximum speed and power transfer, a new standard has been set in terms of torsional stiffness and bottom bracket movement. The double-diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized’s history, supporting the goal of stiffness by integrating the shock as a structural element. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock uses air springs, positive and negative, independently adjustable, giving the bike the “snap” of a hardtail combined with a weight that eats into the terrain and allows setup adjustments for a specific course or personal preferences. The 75 mm of travel on the Epic World Cup behave as if they were much more. When pedaling in firm mode, it offers the same positive travel as a bike with 100 mm of travel set with a 25% sag. Optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics allows the Epic WC to handle impacts like a bike with more generous travel. The MegaJounce dedicated pad provides solid end station support to manage the most violent impacts. The BRAIN is positioned in the fork, features Position-Sensitive technology and 15 mm of sag, without the need for lockout or action levers.
